Having had a little time on my hand recently I have finally had time to set up a small 10 gallon tank. My aim is a mainly planted aquarium with some fish. For now it will not have fish for some time.
To that effect I have swapped out the old style incandescent bulbs with CFLs. These provided much brighter daylight light for the plant growth. I have added fertilizer to aid plant growth, and finally to ensure Co2 exists in sufficient quantity a home made CO2 pump to ensure that there is an elevated Co2 environment to promote plant grown the increased light and fertilizer. We shall see how it goes.

The tank at this stage had no rocks or final gravel added. I have updated this post to include a shot of tank at its final stage.
