So here I am now almost decided on buying a 24″ iMac…. but as usually the “cool” edge has slipped from the current iMac offerings when comparing to the latest offerings in the PC world. I guess I just have to wait till the iMac range is update. Last thing I want is a 2 month old machine when the next revision comes out… well lets say I hope its only another couple of months till there are revisions.

Last year I inherited a G4 powerpc from my father who had upgraded to an iMac. It has completely replaced my ageing 1.7gig Windows pc – even when it’s running Suse or Debian. Much faster, far more stable and more comfortable to work with. I’m a web programmer and I hammer this machine.
Apple have succeeded in bringing Linux into the home (yes, I know it’s BSD). This is what the Linux community should be aiming for. Then we can wave goodbye to Microsoft.
Hopefully, Apple will tweak OS X to install natively on any PC. Sun did it with OpenSolaris.
There is no way I can afford an iMac, but I have every intention of building a MacPro clone for around £300.
